Mapleton youth wins Arbor Day tree poster contest

Emma Beach, a fourth-grader at Mapleton Elementary, recently won the Sweepstakes Award for the Utah Arbor Day Tree Poster Contest. 

r On 05/18/2016 at 1251 hours officers from the Spanish Fork City Police Department responded to the Pacific Horizon Credit Union located at 375 East 300 South on a report of an armed robbery. An unknown male individual entered the bank and brandished a black hand gun. The individual requested the teller to handover the money in the cash drawer. The individual was carrying a black bag and the money was placed into the bag.

The suspect was wearing a black ski mask, black sunglasses, a camo desert floppy style hat and a red pullover type coat. He was wearing blue cargo pants and black gloves. He is described as a male, approximately six foot tall and approximately 160 pounds. He was described as being slender for his height. Due to the individual wearing a ski mask and gloves his color and race is unknown.rThe male fled the area northbound on foot. It is unknown if he left the area in a vehicle. Officers arrived within seconds and a search perimeter was assembled. Officers from the Spanish Fork Police Department and neighboring agencies have searched the area, with assistance of canine units and have been unable to locate the suspect.rThe employees of the credit union were not injured.rIf anyone has information in regards to this incident please contact the Spanish Fork City Police Department at 801-804-4700.
