Adult Education Recognition Night

r By James Cushman, Dragon Times Reporter

On may 5th, 2016 several adults graduated from the Nebo Adult Education high school program located at Landmark High School. It was a heartwarming ceremony filled with a lot of awesome moments. Amongst the graduating class were two 17 year old girls that had an amazing story. Katlynn and McKynna Lindberg dropped out of high school after a member of their immediate family passed away. Their little brother died and they found it very hard to keep up and stay focused in school. Then a year later they started back in high school and with the help of a wonderful teacher they got back on track and graduated high school. I asked them what helped them stay motivated they said that their teacher Lucila was an awesome help in keeping them on track and keeping them motivated to get through their last year of high school.

The ceremony was filled many heart filled speeches by our very own principle Lynn Mecham and Dean of Students Liz Reynolds. After all The speakers we sang a very touching song by the classic artist Dan Fogelberg. The song titled “The higher you climb,” is a perfect fit for the end of the graduation. The song says “the more you see, the less you know, the less you know, the more you learn.” I think that’s an awesome thing to have said to young people who are finally starting their lives now that they have their high school diploma. When you go through this process you become a different person than you were at the start. You become more of an adult and ready to get on with the one part of your life that you need to get started. If you don’t have your diploma and you dropped out of high school I suggest you got through this course.
