Payson road project update

Dec 19, 2016 07:39PM
The Utah Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and Payson City are preparing an Environmental Impact Statement that evaluates the interchange at Main Street (SR-115) and I-15. This study is analyzing transportation conditions and will recommend potential solutions to meet current and future needs.

While addressing comments received from UDOT and FHWA, the study team determined the two Relocate (R) alternatives should be carried forward and fully evaluated in the Draft EIS. The R alternatives were originally eliminated after the alternatives meeting in December 2015. However, review and comment indicates further analysis is warranted.

This is a normal part of the EIS process to work collaboratively and undergo multiple reviews to ensure that study requirements are met and alternatives are adequately considered. We have updated the project website (udot.utah.gov/go/paysoneis) to include the two R alternatives (R1 and R2).

We now anticipate that the Draft EIS will be available for public review in late summer 2017. There will be a 45-day minimum public comment period after the Draft EIS is published. UDOT and FHWA will consider comments when finalizing the EIS and issuing a Record of Decision.
