Nebo’s CTE administrator recognized by state

Alan Ashton, Nebo's Career & Technical Education coordinator, was honored as Administrator of the Year recently by the Utah Association of Career and Technical Education.

Ashton helped create the Advanced Learning Center, an early college and career center. He pushed to have the center focus on pathways and concurrent enrollment. Ashton’s philosophy and educational mantra is that a CTE class should always lead to another class, certification or opportunity to learn. CTE has always been a major part of Ashton's life.

As a student, CTE classes were Ashton's vehicle to learning about electronics. As a teacher, CTE courses were his vehicle to share his excitement about the world of technology and engineering. As an administrator, CTE courses were Ashton’s vehicle to help students find a passion for learning. As a CTE coordinator, CTE courses have become his vehicle to give students a value-added senior year and a head start into great careers as well as provide support to the CTE teachers in Nebo School District and the state of Utah.
