Six year old child drowns at Spanish Oaks Reservoir

On 6/10/17 at approximately 4:26 p.m. Officers from the Spanish Fork Police Department were dispatched and responded to the Spanish Oaks Reservoir located at 2599 South Spanish Oaks Drive on report of a missing six year old child. The child was last seen playing with other children on the sandy beach area at the reservoir. The child was last seen approximately 15 minutes before the family called police. First Responders, including Patrol Officers, Fire and EMS personnel, and Utah County Search and Rescue responded and began to check the area along with citizens at the reservoir. A citizen searching the water located the child in approximately five feet of water at approximately 5:06 p.m. The child was located in the area that he was last seen playing. The child was transported by ambulance to Mountain View Hospital where medical personnel attempted to revive the child, but the child succumbed to the drowning. The child is a six year old male and was from North Dakota and was at the reservoir for a family gathering. The child will not be identified at this point due to notification of family. Also we ask that there be no contact from media to the family as they deal with this tragic situation.
