Small business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Show your support by shopping at local small businesses on Saturday, November 25.
Although just 21.5 percent of all small businesses are employers, almost half of the nation’s private sector workforce (49.2 percent) is employed by small business — that’s 120 million people!
Small businesses often have a better variety and more unique inventory than the big box stores and are often willing to special order products for customers. The customer service is generally more personalized by small business owners working to get to know their customers.
According to Forbes, beyond keeping spending dollars in your local community, small business owners are also more likely to “do good” for your community through partnerships and donations to local schools, youth programs and charities.
November 25 is the eighth annual Small Business Saturday. The day was created by American Express in 2010 to support the diverse range of local businesses that create jobs, help boost the economy and enhance neighborhoods.
