Springville’s Youth Court presents lecture on childhood trauma and stress

On Thursday, January 25, at 5:30 p.m., in the Springville Civic Center Multipurpose Room, Pam Raleigh with the Family Support and Treatment Center is going to teach about the importance of being “Trauma Informed and Resiliency Focused.”

So many families in Springville’s Youth Court have experienced and are experiencing many forms of trauma and stress. These experiences manifest themselves in many ways.  Many of us have experienced what the researchers are calling “Adverse Childhood Experiences.” The more “ACES” we have experienced in our lives before the age of 18 the more at risk we can be. The good news is we can recognize the signs and take very deliberate steps to lead a very healthy, happy and successful life and to reach out and help others.

All Youth Court members, all parents and any members’ friends are invited to attend. This will be a very valuable experience and the beginning of many great conversations. A light dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. for all those attending and then the time will be turned over to the presenter.  She will present and answer questions for approximately one hour. The event will be done by 7:00 p.m. Please RSVP so we can order enough food!
