PCT Review: A Night on Broadway

Mar 14, 2018 08:30AM
On Friday, February 23, my husband Ed and I attended “A Night on Broadway” presented by the Payson Community Theater (PCT) at Payson High School. Twenty-three numbers were presented from twenty-two musicals. PCT presented two numbers from the musical Newsies.

I particularly enjoyed the following numbers:  “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from Funny Girl; “Sisters” from White Christmas; “Singin’ in the Rain” from Singin’ in the Rain; “Anythin’ You Can Do” from Annie Get Your Gun; and “Edelweiss” from Sound of Music.

The opening number was “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the show closed with “Through Heaven’s Eyes” from Prince of Egypt.

The director of the production was Paul Cave and in his Director’s Note he stated, ”Our goal is for each of you to smile big, laugh hard, and reminisce nostalgically over your favorite show tunes. We also hope you leave tonight’s performance feeling rejuvenated, entertained, and inspired. In my opinion, their goal was achieved.

Payson Community Theater will follow this production with “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” at Mapleton High School on March 22, 23, 24. and 26, with doors opening at 7 PM and the show starts at 8:30.
